Disclosed is a control method for a radiation therapy device. Said control method is provided with: a step in which a plurality of similarity degrees corresponding to a plurality of matching target regions are computed from a radiographic image; a step in which the position of an identified image region corresponding to the matching target region having the highest similarity degree is computed; and a step in which the distance to drive a therapeutic irradiation device is computed from the position of the identified image region. The operation of computing one of the plurality of similarity degrees corresponding to one matching target region is provided with: a step in which a table that associates the plurality of matching target regions with a plurality of template sets is referenced, and the template set corresponding to the aforementioned matching target region is computed; and a step in which a similar template most similar to the matching target image in the aforementioned matching target region of the radiographic image is detected from the computed template set.
