Disclosed are: a polycarbonate resin which has excellent light resistance, transparency, hue, heat resistance, thermal stability and mechanical strength; and a method for efficiently and stably producing a polycarbonate resin that stably exhibits the above-mentioned properties. Specifically disclosed are: a polycarbonate resin which contains at least a structural unit that is derived from a dihydroxy compound that has, as a part of the structure, a moiety represented by general formula (1), said polycarbonate resin having specific characteristics; and a method for producing the polycarbonate resin. (In this connection, the cases where the moiety represented by general formula (1) is a part of a -CH2-O-H group are excluded.) |
