Disclosed are a shift register which can stably operate, and a display apparatus. The shift register is configured such that the shift register includes a thin film transistor having the source electrode, the drain electrode, and the gate electrode. The thin film transistor is a bottom gate type thin film transistor having a comb-like source/drain structure. In the gate electrode, in a region overlapping the source electrode and/or in a region overlapping the drain electrode, a notched section and/or an opening is provided.
