PURPOSE: A foreign material removal apparatus for a belt conveyor is provided to remove foreign materials from the carrier belt part and return belt part of a belt conveyor simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: A foreign material removal apparatus for a belt conveyor comprises a pair of foreign material removing units(200), a lifting unit, a frame unit, and a control unit. The foreign material removing units are formed inside a closed loop type belt(20) and driven up and down to contact both inner opposite sides of the belt across a width direction. The lifting unit drives the foreign material removing units up and down. The frame unit supports the lifting unit inside the belt. The control unit controls the operation of the lifting unit.
