<p>An air compressor is provided with: a plurality of cylinder units, each having a cylinder and a piston; and a piston driving mechanism which is linked to each of the pistons of the plurality of cylinder units and drives each of the pistons simultaneously. Each cylinder of the plurality of cylinder units has a cylinder hole of a predetermined length. Each piston is disposed so as to move back and forth within a cylinder hole in such a way that a first space is formed at one side and a second space is formed at the other side in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder hole. The plurality of cylinder units are sequentially connected from the furthest-upstream cylinder unit which is positioned furthest upstream and in communication with the atmosphere, to the furthest-downstream cylinder unit which is positioned furthest downstream and in communication with a supply unit, and the plurality of cylinder units are mutually connected in such a way that the first space of a cylinder unit positioned at the upstream side is in communication with the second space of a cylinder unit positioned at the downstream side. The volume of each cylinder unit is set in such a way that the volume decreases gradually from the furthest-upstream cylinder unit to the furthest-downstream cylinder unit.</p> |
