In the course of the authentication, a trusted relationship is established between the server (11) and the client (10), in the course of which the server (11) and the client (10) are identified to each other, and a shared secret is determined for both the server (11) and the client (10), and a public key is stored on the client (10) for encrypting the data communication transferred from the client (10) to the server (11), and the data communication from the authenticated client (10) to the server (11) is controlled from the server (11) through setting the communication parameters. The invention also relates to a data communication system utilizing the inventive method.
