METHOD FOR PROCESSING PACKETIZED TRANSPORT STREAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system in which entitlement data are layered in such a way that the right to receive a program material is immediately denied.

SOLUTION: This apparatus includes a packet transport processor for selecting a signal packet which has a payload including a conditional access payload header and a payload of the remaining entitlement data. Each payload header includes a group of bytes that are coded in a way that enables or disables a receiver to process the entitlement data. A filter programmed in advance by means of a conditional access code word unique to a subscriber inspects a grouping of respective bytes of conditional access headers for matching with the conditional access code word unique to the subscriber. If matching occurs, the processor processes the entitlement data. Entitlement is used to generate a decryption key for a decryption portion for a transmission signal.
