PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire reducing weight while maintaining controllability and stability and cornering power. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire 1 has a belt 7 on the outer periphery of a crown part of a carcass 6, and has a tread part 5 having a peripheral directional groove 10 just above such a belt 7. Such the belt 7 includes an inclined belt layer 8 of at least one layer composed of a rubber-coated cord 11 slantingly extending to a tire equatorial surface CL arranged just above the carcass 6 and one layer or more of peripheral directional belt layers 9 arranged outside in the tire radial direction of the inclined belt layer 8 and composed of the rubber-coated cord 11 extending along the tire peripheral direction. An interval of the cord 11 constituting the peripheral directional belt layer 9 in an area on the inside in the tire radial direction of the peripheral directional groove 10, is larger than an interval of the cord 11 constituting the peripheral directional belt layer 9 in an area except for the area on the inside in the tire radial direction of the peripheral directional groove 10.
