PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly fix a spacer to the inside of a water jacket while minimizing an influence on a flow of cooling water in the water jacket. SOLUTION: The upper edge 14p of the spacer 14 partitioning an upper cooling water passage 13c and a lower cooling water passage 13d in the water jacket of the cylinder block 11 of an internal combustion engine is inclined so that the downstream side of the upper cooling water passage 13c becomes higher by a level difference G. Therefore, the spacer 14 is pressed with a load F to the side of the bottom of the water jacket by the cooling water flowing in the upper cooling water passage 13c, and the spacer 14 is prevented from being uncontrollably moved inside the water jacket 13. Thereby, there is no more requirement to pressure-fit and fix the spacer 14 to the inside of the water jacket, and the spacer is easily fitted. In addition, it is possible to reduce the influence on the flow of the cooling water by simplifying or eliminating the fixing member 22 of the spacer 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
