PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing active oxygen species, which can continuously produce the active oxygen species stably for a long period of time without delaying the production of the active oxygen species even in a regeneration process for recovering the capability of a redox polymer such as polyaniline for producing the active oxygen species. SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing active oxygen species includes: a cathode 1 having a substrate which contains the redox polymer such as polyaniline; an anode 2; and a voltage-applying means 5 which makes water or a water-containing substance exist between both electrodes and passes an electric current between the cathode and the anode. The anode has the substrate containing the redox polymer such as polyaniline, and the voltage-applying means has a switching means 6 for switching the current-passing direction between the cathode and the anode.
