PURPOSE: A light emitting diode array, apparatus and method for driving liquid crystal display device using the same are provided to improve image quality and contrast ratio by controlling a plurality of light emitting diodes respectively. CONSTITUTION: In a light emitting diode array, apparatus and method for driving liquid crystal display device using the same, an LED array(100) comprises a substrate(110) and a plurality of light emitting diodes(120) A plurality of light emitting diodes comprises a controlling unit(130) for each diode. The controlling unit controls a current path for a driving power source to turn on/off the light emitting diode. The substrate comprises a drive voltage line(112), a ground line(114), and a plurality of diode selection signal line(116) A current path formation unit(133) forms a first current path or a second current path. The first current path turns on the light emitting diode. The second current path turns off the light emitting diode.
