PURPOSE: A rear camera system for a vehicle is provided to ensure clear field of view since a housing moves up and down according to a standby mode and an operating mode and thus dust from the front of a camera module is removed. CONSTITUTION: A rear camera system for a vehicle comprises an outer frame(30), a housing(20), a camera module(10), a driving unit and a cleaning unit(40). The housing is movably coupled to the outer frame. In a standby mode, the driving unit makes the housing stay in the outer frame. In an operating mode, the driving unit makes the housing stay out of the outer frame. The camera module is accepted in the housing. The cleaning unit is installed on one surface of the outer frame. In the standby mode, the cleaning unit makes contact with the outer surface of the housing at a position facing the camera module.
