<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for calculating the temperature of a glow plug in an internal combustion engine, calculating a temperature difference between the temperature of the glow plug at a position outside a heater and the temperature in a heater of the glow plug. <P>SOLUTION: The temperature difference is calculated depending on a time function, and the temperature of the glow plug is calculated from a temperature difference influenced by the time function and a temperature value indicating a measured value.
