PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a wide dynamic range in RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) monitoring at handover to another system in a multi-mode portable terminal device. SOLUTION: A portable terminal device is provided with: Rx gain amplifiers 6-I, 6-Q, 8-I, 8-Q which amplify a received signal; a nonvolatile memory 11 which stores in advance gain values to be set in the Rx gain amplifiers 6-I, 6-Q, 8-I, 8-Q; and a CPU 10 which reads out the set gain values in normal operation from the nonvolatile memory 11 and sets them in the Rx gain amplifiers 6-I, 6-Q, 8-I, 8-Q in normal operation, and reads out set gain values for RSSI monitoring of another network from the nonvolatile memory 11 and sets them in the Rx gain amplifiers 6-I, 6-Q, 8-I, 8-Q during handover from the current network to another network.
