摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device enhancing light utilizing efficiency of a backlight by providing a light guide plate which has a function for converting polarized light from a light source and can be easily manufactured. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device including a light guide plate 130 provided with a light source part 150 and a light emission surface guiding light from the light source part 150 from a side part to emit light in a surface shape and a liquid crystal panel 200 provided with a lower polarizing plate 230 on a side opposed to the light emission surface, the lower polarizing plate 230 has a transmission axis in a direction along a light guide azimuth in which light is guided by the light guide plate 130, the light guide plate 130 has a polarized light converting means 131 on at least one of the light emission surface and the rear surface thereof, and the polarized light converting means 131 reflects light made incident from the light guide azimuth in a different advancing azimuth and further reflecting light so that the advancing azimuth of light reflected in the different advancing azimuth is made close to the light guide azimuth to convert the polarized light advancing from the light guide azimuth. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
