<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior cellulose acetate film, not causing leakage of light when used in a liquid crystal display device having a large size of a liquid crystal panel, by improving the cellulose acetate film used as the protective film of a sheet polarizer or the support of an optical compensation sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose acetate film is formed of cellulose acetate whose acetylation degree ranges from 59.0 to 61.5%. The cellulose acetate film is controlled to have an Re retardation value ranging from 0 to 20 nm. The cellulose acetate film is controlled to have an Rth retardation value ranging from 30 to 70 nm.
