PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect an external electrode without damaging an electrode connection part provided on one substrate in an image display device using substrate made from resin. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an image display device includes steps of: providing an electrode connection part 21 for connecting an external electrode 22 for supplying a driving signal from the outside, to an end part on one principal surface of a tabular transfer source substrate 30; bonding the transfer source substrate 30 and a tabular counter substrate 11 to each other by a sealant 13; removing the transfer source substrate 30 with the electrode connection part 21 left; connecting the external electrode 22 to the electrode connection part 21; and causing a transfer destination substrate 30 made from resin to face the counter substrate 11 via the electrode connection part 21.
