<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light source device having high in-plane uniformity of luminance and high light utilization efficiency, and to provide a display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This planar light source device includes a point light source 3, and a light guide plate 1 to propagate light from the point light source 3. The light guide plate 1 forms a first hole 1e to contain the point light source 3, and a square hole 1f serving as a second hole having its opening part on a light emitting surface or a surface facing the light emitting surface between the first hole 1e and the second side surface 1d of the light guide plate 1 and in the vicinity of a first side surface 1c where the point light source 3 is disposed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
