<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin objective lens that is reliably manufactured, and also to provide an optical pickup device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element that is a biconvex lens made of glass materials includes: a lens having a first optical surface which laser beams enter and a second optical surface from which the incident laser beams is emitted; and a peripheral section arranged at the periphery of the lens with at least part of the peripheral section optically axially projecting beyond the second optical surface, which is composed of a first peripheral surface arranged at the first optical surface side and a second peripheral surface arranged at the second optical surface side, with a curved connection of the second optical surface and the second peripheral surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
