PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a trans-1,4-cyclohexylene structure-having compound useful as a raw material for medicines, agrochemicals, liquid crystal materials and the like. SOLUTION: The method for efficiently producing the trans-1,4-cyclohexylene structure-having compound comprises catalytically hydrogenating an alkylmethylene cyclohexane derivative obtained by reacting a cyclohexanone derivative with an alkylphosphonium ylide or phosphonate derivative in a basic condition using an aprotonic solvent such as ethyl acetate, acetone or tetrahydrofuran as a reaction solvent.
