PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light pulse tester shortening measurement time. SOLUTION: This light pulse tester includes a pulse generator emitting a light pulse toward an optical fiber, a photon detector for detecting photons included in Rayleigh backscattered light based on the light pulse, and a photon counter for counting photons detected by the photon detector. The light pulse tester is for finding a relation between a distance of the optical fiber and a count of photons through the counting by the photon counter while changing the timing of impressing a gate signal on the photon detector, the gate signal making effective detection by the photon detector. The light pulse tester includes a control means for impressing the gate signal on the photon detector a plurality of times each time one light pulse is emitted from the pulse generator.
