PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording reproducing device for television broadcast which can display Kanji (Chinese characters) although it has no Kanji conversion function and can prevent deterioration in the convenience of a Kanji input. SOLUTION: A program editing screen has a status display column displaying that the screen is an editing screen, a motion picture display column, an editing assistance column, a title editing column, a reproduction timing column displaying a reproduction position and an operation instructing column displaying an operation button. The editing assistance column has a Kanji display region below the display of a character kind. The Kanji display region is divided into a Kanji deletion region on an upper stage and a general Kanji region on a lower stage, and Kanji deleted during title editing is displayed on the deleted Kanji region and Kanji extracted as described below is displayed on the general Kanji region. The title editing section 18 serves as an editor in the title editing field, and executes the acceptance of characters, conversion from Roman letters into Japanese letters, Kanji insertion for selecting Kanji from the Kanji display region and inserting it into the title, and the addition and deletion of characters in the title.
