PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm the performance of even an optical connector having no connection point with a built-in optical fiber and applying a pressure to an end face of a fiber, after the completion of assembly. SOLUTION: The optical connector 100 is assembled in the state where the optical fiber 11 is inserted into a ferrule 21 having a flexible portion 13 for making the optical fiber 11 flexible, thereby making the optical fiber 11 flexible in the flexible portion 13. In the method for inspecting the optical fiber, the ferrule 21 is made to face a ferrule for inspection, and the amounts of flexure in the optical fiber 11 are respectively observed in the flexible portion 13 before and after bringing the ferrule for inspection into contact with the ferrule 21. Alternatively, visible light may enter the ferrule 21 from the ferrule for inspection to confirm whether leakage of light occurs. An inspection apparatus used for an inspection method is equipped with: the ferrule for inspection into which the optical fiber is inserted; and an optical system for observing the flexible portion 13.
