PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for reducing power consumption while securing brightness necessary for displaying an image without causing any color break. SOLUTION: For each of a plurality of color signals constituting an input image signal, a quasi-maximum value is obtained within a predetermined range from the maximum value of a signal value of each pixel in one frame. Based on a maximum luminance value determined from the maximum one of the quasi-maximum values of the plurality of color signals, a luminance upper limit value, emission luminance for emission from a light source, and an emission period determined from a predetermined upper limit light-emitting period, a plurality of light sources corresponding to the color signals simultaneously emit light of the fixed emission luminance for the emission period.
