PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reduction in paper conveying speed caused by a temperature increase at a non-paper passing portion when narrow-width paper passes, even when there is variation in resistance temperature coefficients of a heat generating body. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a current detection part 407 to detect a current flowing in a heater 205. A controller 405 is configured to: calculate a resistance temperature coefficient value TCR of the heater 205 (S609) on the basis of a temperature Ta detected by a thermistor 207c, a current value Ia detected by the current detection part 407 when detecting the temperature Ta (S603), a temperature Tb (Ta<Tb) detected by the thermistor 207c, and a current value Ib detected by the current detection part 407 when detecting the temperature Tb (S608). The image forming apparatus calculates a power ratio P1/P2 of a main heater 302a to a sub heater 302b on the basis of the calculated resistance temperature coefficient value TCR; and controls power to be supplied to the heater 205 on the basis of the calculated power ratio P1/P2.
