PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine wherein the following damage is reduced during assembling work for inserting a rotor into a stator: ring damage caused when the surface of the rotor is brought into contact with a molded portion. SOLUTION: A permanent-magnet synchronous motor is equipped with: a shaft; the rotor 2 having a rotor core 6 provided on the shaft, a permanent magnet 7 provided on the rotor core 6, and a ring 8 provided to cover the circumferential surface and formed of carbon fiber reinforced plastic; and the stator 1 having a stator core 3 containing multiple teeth 15, coils 4 provided in slots formed between adjacent teeth 15, and the molded portion 5 covering the coil ends of the coils 4.
