<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for controlling the flow of slurry. <P>SOLUTION: In a mixer 12 and the dispensing apparatus 22, a constrictor valve 28 is used. The constrictor valve 28 includes a first guide plate and a second guide plate. The first and second guide plates are spaced a distance apart along the longitudinal direction of a conduit 24. Two or more elongate members 30 extend between the two guide plates and the members have the first and second ends engaged on the first and second guide plates.
