PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish network communication with a device on the other end of the line by using a more proper communication protocol. SOLUTION: Networking equipment is configured: to transmit a request to search for equipment 100 on the other end of the line by using a first communication protocol, to transmit the request to search for the equipment 100 on the other end of the line by using a second communication protocol without waiting for a response from the equipment 100 using the first communication protocol, to receive a response A1 using the first communication protocol and a response A2 using the second communication protocol, to transmit the request to search for the equipment 100 by using the second communication protocol, to transmit the request to search for the equipment 100 by using the first communication protocol without waiting for a response from the equipment 100 using the second communication protocol, to receive a response A3 using the second communication protocol and a response A4 using the first communication protocol, and to select a communication protocol to be used for communication with the equipment 101, based on the order of the responses A1, A2 and responses A3, A4 received from the equipment 101 , to establish communication with the equipment 101 using the selected communication protocol.
