PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tsunami shelter which enables evacuation in a short period of time before the arrival of the tsunami, in view of the fact that a coastal zone has the high tsunami risk due to an earthquake causing many lives to be lost largely because the arrival of the tsunami is faster than expected, and especially it is difficult for the aged and the disabled to evacuate to higher ground. SOLUTION: This tsunami shelter includes: a refuge container, which has an openable doorway and which can float to a water surface by maintaining a sealed state in closing; and a unit of a pair of supports (base) composed of a plurality of steel sheet piles for guarding the four corners of the container and guiding them in a vertically slidable manner. At the arrival of the tsunami, the person escapes from the tsunami by getting into the refuge container through the doorway. By this constitution, the tsunami shelter can easily be installed, while satisfying safety, convenience and inexpensiveness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
