PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a device while appropriately converting NOx in exhaust gas. SOLUTION: In an SCR system, an SCR catalyst 13 is disposed in the exhaust passage of an engine, and further a reducing agent supply section 15 supplying a NOx reducing agent (ammonia) is disposed upstream of the SCR catalyst 13. A cyclone mechanism 30 as a swirl flow generation section making exhaust gas in the exhaust passage generate a swirl flow is provided upstream of the reducing agent supply section 15 in the exhaust passage. In the system, especially, an exhaust gas reverse flow area with exhaust gas flowing from the downstream side of the exhaust passage to the upstream side thereof is formed by the cyclone mechanism 30, and the NOx reducing agent is supplied to the exhaust gas reverse flow area by the reducing agent supply section 15.
