PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas cooking stove of high usability performing roast cooking without using a cooking container from an initial period of ignition by receiving release of an operation of a cooking container detecting function before performing a manual igniting operation in special cooking, even in a case of providing a manual igniting operation type gas cooking stove with the cooking container detecting function. SOLUTION: This gas cooking stove 1 is constituted to supply a gas to a gas burner 11 by opening manual opening/closing valves 24, 25 of an appliance valve 2 by manual igniting operation of an ignition/extinction button 3 disposed on a cooking stove body, and to make a control section 8 be powered on. The cooking container detecting means 15 is disposed to detect existence or non-existence of the cooking container on the gas burner 11, and the control section 8 includes the cooking container detecting function for preventing heating of the gas burner 11 when non-existence of the cooking container is detected by the cooking container detecting means 15 when the manual igniting operation is performed by the ignition/extinction button 3, and a releasing function for releasing the operation of the cooking container detecting function by being powered on when a release key 9 disposed on the cooking stove body is switched on.
