<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient motor driver which profitably utilizes a switching element having poor recovery properties. <P>SOLUTION: The motor driver is equipped with one or more arms 5, 6, and 7, and a controller 8. The arms are constituted by connecting in series a first switch part which is composed of IGBTs 11, 21, and 31 and diodes 12, 22, and 32 connected in parallel with IGBTs 11, 21, and 31, and a second switch part which is composed of serially connected element parts of MOSFFETs 13, 23, and 33 and shunt resistors 16, 26, and 36 and reflux diodes 15, 25, and 35 connected in parallel with the serially connected element parts.
