<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stirling engine to efficiently obtain output. <P>SOLUTION: A spring (coil spring or leaf spring) made of a shape memory alloy that energizes a reciprocating low temperature side piston in the rotation direction of a crankshaft is installed in a cylinder constituting the stirling engine. For example, in the stirling engine 100, the spring 1 made of the shape memory alloy is contained in the low temperature side cylinder 123.
