<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium showing ink absorption, which can sufficiently meet the requirements of rapid printing by modern inkjet printers and also has excellent image fastness such as ozone resistance or humidity resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium includes an ink receptive layer formed on a support. The ink receptive layer contains an alumina hydrate, an alkyl sulfonic acid with 1 to 4 carbon atoms and at least either of hydroxylamine or salt thereof represented by formula (1) HO-N(R<SP>1</SP>)(R<SP>2</SP>) defined by a specification. The alkyl sulfonic acid with 1 to 4 carbon atoms accounts for 1.0 to 2.0 mass% to the alumina hydrate, and the total amount of the hydroxylamine and the salt thereof, accounts for 0.2 to 2.0 mass% to the alumina hydrate.
