PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily producing an inorganic fiber having high solubility in a living body at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing the inorganic fiber includes making an aqueous solution of spinning raw materials by dissolving a water-soluble basic aluminum carboxylate and a water-soluble calcium compound in an aqueous medium, spinning the aqueous solution of the spinning raw materials by an electrostatic spinning method to afford a crude inorganic fiber, and firing the crude inorganic fiber to afford the inorganic fiber comprising 88-53 mass% of aluminum element expressed in terms of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and 12-47 mass% of calcium element expressed in terms of CaO.
