PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device for correcting an inclination in the proceeding direction of recording paper with respect to the proceeding direction of an intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: The transfer device 50 includes: a first transfer roller 10 coming into contact with a back side of the intermediate transfer belt 6; a second transfer roller 12 forming a transfer part T2 between a first transfer member by coming in press contact with a front side of the belt; a transfer electric field generating device 35 for generating the transfer electric field between the rollers 10 and 12, for transferring a developer image on the belt to the recording paper P; an intermediate transfer body edge part detection device 62 for detecting an edge part of the belt; a first recording medium edge part detection device 54a which is arranged on the upstream side of the roller 12 and detects an edge part of the paper; a second recording medium edge part detection device 54b which is arranged on the downstream side of the roller 12 and detects the edge part of the paper; and a correction device 70 for correcting the inclination in the proceeding direction of the paper with respect to the proceeding direction of the belt based on the detection results obtained by the intermediate transfer body edge part detection device, the first recording medium edge part detection device and the second recording medium edge part detection device.
