<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery withstanding a physical shock from the outside, enhancing capacity, and having high performance. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery includes: a positive electrode containing a positive electrode active material capable of inserting and releasing lithium; a negative electrode containing a carbon-based negative electrode active material and a water soluble binder; and a polymer electrolyte containing a polymer, a nonaqueous organic solvent, and a lithium salt. The polymer is prepared by polymerizing a first monomer represented by chemical formula 1 and a second monomer represented by one or more chemical formulas selected from a group consisting of chemical formulas 2 to 7.
