PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system and a lane change guidance method by which a driver safely changes lanes, even if the difference between a predetermined traveling speed of a destination lane to change and a traveling speed on the lane one's own vehicle is now traveling, is rather big. SOLUTION: When a road includes a plurality of lanes between from an intersection to be guided to the position of the own vehicle, and when neighboring traveling lanes exist, in which the difference of vehicle traveling speed is not less than a predetermined value, in each group of mutually neighboring traveling lanes among the plurality of traveling lanes, a longer distance for adjusting the own vehicle's traveling speed to the vehicle traveling speed of the destination lane is secured, by controlling the timing of the route guidance sooner than the normal timing.
