PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method for preventing deterioration in visibility, during decoloration control that utilizes ACS function. SOLUTION: The digital color copier 1 analyzes whether an original document is a full-color image or a monochromatic image on a page basis, allocates a certain color processing method to each page, and performs image processing by using the color allocated color processing method. The copier includes a color-processing extracting means 561 for extracting the color processing method allocated for each page; a color-extracting means 562 for extracting colors contained in the original document for each page- and an error-page detecting means 563 for detecting that a portion of or all the colors extracted from an original document of a certain page are identical to a part or to all the colors extracted from an original document of a page that continues thereto, when the color processing method allocated to the certain page is different from the color processing method allocated to the page continuing to the certain page.
