<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel lithium air battery capable of stable operation for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: For the lithium air battery 100 provided with a positive electrode 10 made of a gas-diffusion type oxygen electrode containing carbon, a negative electrode 20 containing metal lithium or lithium-containing material, and organic electrolyte solution 30, an electrolyte improving agent such as a surfactant is added to the organic electrolyte solution 30.
