<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device for obtaining a radiation pattern having superior emitted light. <P>SOLUTION: In the light emitting device 100, at least part of an active layer 106 constitutes a gain region used as a current path of the active layer 106. The gain region 160 is formed from a first edge 170 of a first plane 105 toward a second edge 172 of a second plane 107. The first edge 170 is positioned in a first direction (+X direction) perpendicular to a perpendicular A of the first plane 105 from the second edge 172. The first edge 170 is an emitting surface of the active layer 106 which is covered with an optical path length correcting member 180. A light emitted from the first edge 170 propagates through the optical path length correcting member 180, and is output from an emitting surface 180a of the optical path length correcting member 180. The distance between the emitting surface 180a of the optical path length correcting member 180 and the first edge 170 becomes smaller as it moves in the first direction (+X direction). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
