PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveyer and a printer, which are capable of maintaining conveyance characteristics. SOLUTION: The conveyer includes: a drive roller which has a joint formed cylindrically so that a pair of opposite ends of a metal plate are adjacent or abut on each other, and conveys recording media; a driven roller which is biased by the drive roller to abut on it, rotates according to the rotation of the drive roller, and sandwiches the recording media between the drive roller and the driven roller; and a drive controller which controls the rotation of the drive roller so that the driven roller abuts on a prescribed position away from the joint when stopping the rotation of the drive roller.
