PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning method of a U-shape yoke wherein a distance from a rotating shaft of a rotor to each U-shape yoke is arranged to be constant for acquiring a rotational angle with precision, and also to provide the U-shape yoke. SOLUTION: A plurality of U-shape yokes 20 are arranged around a rotor 10 with a portion facing the rotor 10 being arc-like. The positioning method of the U-shape yoke 20 has: a first step in which the U-shape yoke 20 is caused to abut with a jig 30 having a shape corresponding to the arc-shape; and a second step in which the U-shape yoke 20 is secured while being abutted with the jig 30. The U-shape yoke 20 is equipped with: an abutment portion 24 which faces the rotor 10, has an arc shape, and abuts with the jig 30 having a shape corresponding to the arc shape at the time of positioning; and an adjustment portion 23 for adjusting the jig 30 in radial position.
