PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image diagnostic apparatus for preventing a subject from having an uneasy feeling due to the existence of a scanner being a heavy weight object by evacuating the scanner not in use from the visual field of the subject. SOLUTION: A gantry 2 includes: a leg 3 whose lower end is fixed to a floor; a holding part 8 rotatably supported in the upper part of the leg 3; the scanner 4 whose one end is held by the holding part 8; a large gear 6 pivotally attached to the holding part 8; a small gear 7 to be engaged with the large gear 6; and a motor 5 pivotally attached to the small gear 7 and fixed to the leg 3. The scanner 4 is rotatably moved with the holding part 8 as a rotary center when the motor 5 is rotated, and located at an evacuation position on the outside of the visual field of the subject 9 as shown in Fig.1(1) when not used for photographing.
