PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an energy subtraction image photographing apparatus for rapidly acquiring an energy subtraction image of appropriate image quality by the minimum exposure dose. SOLUTION: A tube voltage control part applies a predetermined first tube voltage to an X-ray tube 1, and a subject is irradiated with an X-ray thereby to acquire the first image (S101). Then, the body thickness of the subject is calculated based on the first image in response to a program (S102). Then, a second tube voltage is determined based on the body thickness of the subject in response to the program (S103).
