PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for trapping Neompheria ferruginea, by which the Neompheria ferruginea of mushroom flies causing especially large damage on sawdust cultivation on mushrooms can selectively and effectively be trapped, and to provide an insect trap. SOLUTION: The method for trapping mushroom flies, especially Neompheria ferruginea, living in a mushroom bed housing for sawdust cultivation on mushrooms includes preparing an attractive substance containing the perfume of banana emitting a fragrance for attracting the Neompheria ferruginea living in the mushroom bed housing, diffusing the fragrance emitted from the attractive substance with diffusion means, attracting the Neompheria ferruginea attracted with the diffused fragrance with light having the peak at an electromagnetic wave length of 405 to 420 nm and emitted from an attractive light source, and then sucking the attracted Neompheria ferruginea with suction means to selectively trap the Neompheria ferruginea.
