PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect smoke in a laser fixing device with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A fixing device 609 has: a laser array 105 fixing a toner image on a sheet P to the sheet P by irradiating the sheet P with laser beam; a transmission type sensor 104; and a fixing control part 602. The transmission type sensor 104 has: a light emitting device 104a emitting light with a predetermined wavelength; and a light receiving device 104b receiving the light with a predetermined wavelength to output a signal corresponding to a received amount of the light with a predetermined wavelength. The light emitting device 104a and the light receiving device 104b are positioned in such a manner that the light emitting device 104a and the light receiving device 104b face each other with a light path of the laser beam irradiated from the laser array 105 therebetween, and the light emitted from the light emitting device 104a crosses the light path of the laser beam and then reaches the light receiving device 104b.
