PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately express density gradations by using a black high-density magnetic toner and a black low-density nonmagnetic toner, and giving little difference in gloss from an image expressed by using a nonmagnetic toner. SOLUTION: An image forming section PK where a toner image is formed by using a high-density black toner, which is a magnetic toner, is disposed in the downstream side along an intermediate transfer belt 12 from an image forming section PG where a toner image is formed by using a low-density black toner, which is a nonmagnetic toner. The black image in the image data is divided into an image for the high-density black toner and an image for the low-density black toner, and the toner images are respectively formed and superimposed by the intermediate transfer belt 12 on a recording material, with the high-density black toner in the lower side.
