The vehicle has an electrical energy storage unit comprising electrical energy storage cells i.e. electro-chemical memory cells, which are arranged one behind other in a mounting frame (1) along a vehicle longitudinal direction (x). The individual cells are separated from each other by bars (3) that run along a vehicle transverse direction (y) and are connected on two sides to the frame. An energy-absorbing layer is applied on a rear side at the bars when viewed along the longitudinal direction. The unit is optically covered with covering and attachment parts in a passenger compartment. The electrochemical storage cells are selected from a group consisting of lithium-based battery cells, nickel-metal hydride batteries and double-layer capacitors.
