The method involves determining an opening degree of a ventilator louver (10) depending on cooling requirement of a drive device of a motor vehicle and depending on cooling requirement of a torque transmission device and/or a transmission (60). The opening degree of the ventilator louver is determined additionally depending on ambient temperature (70) of the vehicle and on vehicle speed (80). The opening degree of the ventilator louver is determined such that flow resistance coefficient-value is smaller and sufficient cooling is allowed. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for controlling a ventilator louver (2) a device for controlling the ventilator louver in a motor vehicle.
